Description

Located in the Wethersfield, Connecticut area, this long-term contract / temporary position is an engaging, multi-faceted opportunity where hard work is rewarded. In this role, the Lease Accountant is in charge of preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. Be prepared to dedicate a fair amount of time to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, your will also be in charge of many aspects of internal reporting. You will also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, play an active role in compliance, and review schedules for the reporting processes.
Major responsibilities
Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Maintain monthly payment schedules
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Requirements
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
Ability to meet deadlines
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Experience with bank reconciliations
Microsoft Excel experience
Strong familiarity with Invoice reconciliation
Solid understanding of real estate
Recent and relevant accounting experience
