Robert Half Assistant Accounting Specialist in Newman, California
Description
We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Assistant Accounting Specialist in our manufacturing industry located in Newman, California. The Assistant Accounting Specialist will be an integral part of the team, handling a variety of tasks related to accounts payable and accounts receivable, as well as other general accounting duties.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with daily accounting operations, which may include accounts payable, accounts receivable, and related General Ledger tasks.
• Handle sensitive financial information discreetly and accurately.
• Maintain accurate records of accounts payable and receivable.
• Collect and verify expense reports; reconcile expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records.
• Prepare supporting documents for vendor payments, including verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing and matching purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.
• Answer vendor or account receivable phone inquiries as needed.
• Process daily credit card deposits and update accounts receivable ledger by customer.
• Assist with special projects for Accounting Specialist and Assistant Controller as needed.
• Reconcile monthly bank statements and compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to General Ledger accounts.

Requirements
• Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in an accounting role
• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management
• Demonstrated skills in using Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage X3 and Quickbooks Online is a plus
• Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
