Description

We are seeking a seasoned Family Law Attorney to join our team based in Newport Beach, California. This role is focused on managing family law cases from initiation to completion, encompassing court appearances, legal research, writing, discovery, trial preparation, and settlement negotiations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to supervise other attorneys, demonstrating leadership and mentorship within the firm.

Responsibilities:

• Manage family law cases from start to finish, ensuring all legal procedures and protocols are followed.

• Regularly appear in court, representing clients and arguing cases.

• Conduct extensive legal research and writing to support case development and resolutions.

• Oversee discovery process, collecting, preparing, and exchanging information relevant to the case.

• Prepare for trials by organizing evidence, preparing witnesses, and developing legal arguments.

• Engage in settlement negotiations, striving to resolve disputes outside of court when beneficial to the client.

• Potentially supervise other attorneys, providing guidance and support as needed.

• Adhere to the firm's billable hours requirements, ensuring accurate timekeeping and billing practices.

• Foster relationships with clients, maintaining open lines of communication and providing regular updates on case progress.

• Uphold the firm's reputation for aggressive yet balanced litigation and negotiation, ensuring all actions align with ethical and legal standards.

Requirements

• Applicant must hold a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school

• Must be admitted to the CA bar

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in CA as a practicing attorney in the family law field is required

• Ability to commute to Newport Beach 3x/week

• Must possess strong family law knowledge, able to manage cases from inception to settlement independently (this is not an entry level position!)
