Robert Half SQL Database Administrator in Newport Beach, California

Description We are seeking a Database Administrator located in Newport Beach, California, to join our team in the telecom industry. This role involves managing and ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of databases. You will also be responsible for developing, managing, and testing back-up and recovery plans, ensuring that storage, archiving, back-up, and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.

Responsibilities:

• Work on Cluster and non-cluster-based environments to ensure high availability and reliability of databases

• Implement and support log shipping and Always-On High Availability solutions for critical databases

• Conduct proactive database monitoring and maintenance

• Handle SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems

• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes

• Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement

• Foster team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

• Perform capacity planning, data modeling, and logical/physical database design

• Transfer on-premises databases to AWS cloud databases

• Monitor customer facing databases and ensure uptime within our internal SLA of 99.99% with on-call responsibility

• Set up and configure Amazon RDS database instances

• Identify optimization opportunities within customer facing databases

• Manage capacity of database resources. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator.

• Proficiency in Database, EO/IR systems, Microsoft SQL Server, R2 and Backup Technologies.

• Experience in Configuration Management and Database Administration.

• Capability to Design and Implement Strategies.

• Familiarity with Datadog, SQL Database, Amazon Web Services (AWS), SQL Clustering, SQL Server, and SQL Server Clustering.

• Proficient in Database Query, SQL - Structured Query Language, AWS Lambda, SQL Performance Tuning, Performance Tuning and Performance Optimization.

• Expertise in SQL optimization, Disaster Recovery, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory.

• Knowledge of OLTP, Amazon CloudWatch, Patching, and System Patching.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field is preferred. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
