Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity in the non-profit industry, specifically in Newport News, Virginia, United States. The role is for an Accounting Clerk. As an Accounting Clerk, you will be the frontline contact for our constituents, managing in-person payments and customer inquiries.

Responsibilities:

• Handle in-person payments from customers, which may include cash, checks, or credit cards

• Apply customer payments to their respective accounts in a timely and accurate manner

• Provide answers to customer queries related to billing and account information

• Update customer account information as and when required

• Perform customer de-escalation duties effectively and professionally

• Use your cash handling skills to manage and balance cash transactions

• Utilize your customer service skills to ensure a positive customer experience

• Ensure accurate posting of payments to maintain up-to-date records. Requirements • Minimum of three years of experience in an Accounting Clerk role or in a similar capacity

• Proven track record of excellent customer service skills

• Demonstrable capability in managing cash balance and handling cash transactions

• Proficient in payment processing and posting payments

• Prior experience in the Non-Profit sector is desirable but not mandatory

• Proficiency in using accounting software and other related tools

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
