Robert Half Property Accountant in Newton, Massachusetts

Robert Half is partnering with a Newton, MA based firm in need of a Property Accountant.

This position requires a fully onsite commitment, yet can be reduced to hybrid hours after 60 days of training.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for representing and closing 16 to 19 properties/profit centers per month.

• Maintenance/update of the monthly property ‘workbook’ that codifies month-end closing process.

• Accounts Payable: includes processing invoices, following up with vendors and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

• Responsible to upload information for budget template and support Account Executives in the annual budgeting process.

• Vendor maintenance is done in Compliance Depot; compare info to Yardi set up.

• Timely completion of banking reconciliations and assist with on-going cash position of properties.

• Analyze and respond to questions on the monthly financial package and support budget-to-actual variance analysis.

• In PayScan: Verify that invoices are prepared in accord with accounting procedures, correcting errors, questioning atypical expenses and/or departures from established procedures.

• Company credit card reconciliations and communication for obtaining supporting documentation.

• Coordinate the production of the Monthly client financial package; file & retain records, as needed.

• Complete year end audit packages, including all associated documentation.


• Bachelor’s Degree with the strong preference for a B.S. degree in Accounting, or a Finance, Business Management or a STEM Degree (Math/Physics/Chemistry etc.) with appropriate work experience acceptable to Accounting Team leadership.

• Yardi experience and deep EXCEL skills are a strong plus

• Advanced degree or certifications are also plus, but not required

• Excellent verbal and interpersonal communications skills

• Detail oriented, ability to show initiative and take responsibility

• Ability to mentor, teach and review work product of other staff

• Strong time-management and problem-solving skills in a multi-project environment needed
