Robert Half Staff Accountant in NEWTOWN, Pennsylvania

Description You might be the permanent Staff Accountant Robert Half is looking for, if you're interested in becoming a critical part of an innovative company. This Staff Accountant role's duties will require preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. The ideal candidate for this position can perform internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. Major responsibilities

  • Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision

  • In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts

  • Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Organize and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable

  • Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation

  • Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • Compose analyses for income statements and monthly balance sheets for management reporting

  • Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request

  • Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease

  • Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP

  • Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks

  • Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives

  • Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation Requirements - Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

    • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

    • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

    • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

    • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

    • Foundational knowledge in garnishments payroll

    • Demonstrated knowledge of Process Bi-weekly Payroll

    • Knowledge of payroll

    • General familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP)

    • Prepare Journal Entries experience highly preferred

    • Practical knowledge of month end closings

    • Background working with Posting Journal Entries

    • Earlier work involving Microsoft Excel

    • Payroll for over 500 employees experience highly desired

    • Adeptness in Payroll Functions

    • Payroll systems for 100-500 employees experience

    • Quickbooks Online experience

    • 1+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

    • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

    • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail

    • Knowledgeable of ERP systems

    • Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

    • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
