You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. What you get to do every day
Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
CPA or MBA preferred
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Well-founded grasp of Construction Industry
Sage Timberline experience highly desired
Strong familiarity with Controllership Functions
Proven knowledge of construction
Controllership experience preferred
Foundational knowledge in Microsoft Excel
Solid understanding of Accounting Systems
