Robert Half Purchasing Agent in Noblesville, Indiana
Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Purchasing Agent in Noblesville, Indiana. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing purchasing options, requesting quotes, and maintaining productive relationships with suppliers. This role also requires excellent phone skills and a foundational understanding of shipping and receiving practices. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and other relevant software will be advantageous.
Responsibilities:
• Identify and establish relationships with potential purchasing sources
• Request and compare supplier quotes to ensure the best value
• Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of purchased items
• Assist more experienced team members with complex or large-scale purchases
• Use excellent phone skills to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal team members
• Apply mechanical knowledge, where necessary, to understand and purchase appropriate components
• Utilize shipping and receiving knowledge to manage delivery of purchased items
• Use ERP Solutions and other relevant software (such as IBM AS/400, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and Microsoft Excel) for efficient purchasing processes
• Practice excellent customer service when interacting with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Assist in the selection of components, utilizing the 'About Time' and 'Buyer' skills, and understanding of buying processes. Requirements • Proficiency in ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions
• Familiarity with IBM AS/400 and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with About Time software
• Previous role as a Buyer or in a similar capacity
• Understanding of Buying Processes and Component Selection
• Excellent Customer Service skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with various departments
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Ability to analyze market and delivery systems
• Experience in preparing and processing orders.
