Robert Half Business Unit/Division Controller in Norcross, Georgia



My client, a well-known technology company in the Norcross area, is searching for a Divisional/Business Unit Controller to lead their Project and Media Business Unit. The Controller will be a key member of the Accounting and Finance team and will be responsible for the business unit’s finance function, consolidating revenue (POC or Percentage of Completion) and COGS accounting, maintaining accurate monthly financial statements; performing analysis to support the business; providing reports and information for external audit requirements; and assisting with special projects as needed. The Divisional/Business Unit Controller will work closely with the company's Financial Reporting and Analysis team and will assist with forecasting, budgeting and annual strategy reporting.

What You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Ensure Business Unit financial transactions are appropriately accounted for in accordance with US GAAP

  • Assist with internal Business Unit management financial statement preparation and reporting

  • Perform variance analysis on Business Unit financial results to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes impacting the completeness and accuracy of financial statements

  • Work closely with FP& A and Business Unit leadership to analyze and monitor results

  • Supervise accounting team responsible for US revenue and cost of sales accounting process including POC (Percent of Completion) accounting during monthly close process

  • Review reconciliations according to prescribed frequency to ensure balances are appropriately supported and explained by independently collaborating with key stakeholders to resolve any reconciliation issues in a timely manner

  • Work closely with and support other business groups with ad-hoc analysis and information as required

  • Maintain and update key policies and procedures as necessary

  • Assist with the annual external audit process and provide timely support and responses to audit requests

  • Manage and coach team members to increase engagement and strengthen professional development. Continually strives to develop talent within the accounting organization to promote individual development and career growth

  • Create and sustain a culture of continuous improvement to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of accounting operations

  • Perform other responsibilities as directed by management


  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting required

  • CPA is strongly preferred

  • 10+ years experience in finance, operational controlling and/or accounting. Experience as assistant controller or other similar position highly preferred

  • Strong experience with Microsoft D365 preferred

  • Experience with Percentage of Completion accounting

  • Superior analytical and modeling skills including advanced proficiency in Excel and the ability to quickly manipulate and analyze large data sets and build reports

  • Strong financial manager structured and results oriented leader with strong analytical and operational controlling skills

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

  • A high level of independence, accountability, teamwork, good judgement, and attention to detail
