Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Referral Coordinator based in Norfolk, Virginia. This role is within the Healthcare industry, where you will be responsible for managing referral inquiries, coordinating schedules, and ensuring accurate data collection and documentation.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately and efficiently manage referral inquiry functions, including tracking and proper documentation of referrals.
• Coordinate schedules and other functions as the main liaison for patients and practice.
• Handle data entry tasks with precision to maintain accurate customer credit records.
• Utilize your knowledge of medical terminology in day-to-day tasks and communications.
• Manage and coordinate insurance and referral processes, necessitating a solid understanding of third-party payer referral and insurance verification processes.
• Perform administrative assistance duties as required to support the overall function of the role.
• Sort and file documents in both alphabetical and numeric systems.
• Maintain a strong understanding of basic medical terminology and apply it in daily tasks.
• Ensure accurate data collection and retrieval in both computerized and paper systems. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a referral coordinator role or similar position within the healthcare industry.
• Proficiency in data entry tasks, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience with insurance referrals and verifications, specifically within a healthcare setting.
• Understanding of third party payer systems and processes.
• Ability to coordinate logistics effectively, ensuring smooth operations and efficient workflows.
• Proven experience in providing administrative assistance, including scheduling, correspondence, and record-keeping.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology, with the ability to understand and use relevant terms appropriately.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks as necessary to maintain productivity.
• Strong organizational skills, with a focus on maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
• Proficiency in using standard office software and systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
