Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Norfolk, Virginia

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in Norfolk, Virginia. This role falls within the finance industry and the selected candidate will be expected to perform various duties to support the financial operations of the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct bank and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy

• Download and reconcile credit card information for record-keeping purposes

• Clear Suspense account reconciliations and re-post as necessary

• Prepare and review entries to general ledger accounts to maintain financial records

• Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely financial reporting

• Prepare monthly financial statements and other reports for management review and decision making

• Coordinate and assist in the preparation of the annual budget to ensure financial planning

• Review contracts, orders and vouchers for accuracy based on established policies and procedures

• Communicate with other company personnel and contacts outside the company as necessary

• Collect data and perform research on the details of transactions as needed

• Carry out special projects or other duties as assigned by the management. Requirements

• Must hold a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role as a Sr. Accountant

• Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations

• Expertise in managing general ledger and creating journal entries

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

• Experience with month end close procedures

• Familiarity with NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP is a must

• Ability to work independently and in a team

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Knowledge of accounting principles and best practices

• Experience in financial reporting and regulatory filings.
