Robert Half International Staff Accountant in Norfolk, Virginia
Robert Half has partnered with an esteemed organization in the Education industry to find a Staff Accountant to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will have responsibility over the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will have charge over many aspects of internal reporting. You will also participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. A good deal of time in this position will be spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Your responsibilities in this role include:
Partake in annual closing processes
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
- Deep understanding of Fixed Asset Inventory
Annual Financial Reporting experience preferred
Fixed Asset Accounting experience required
Fixed Asset Depreciation experience
Microsoft Excel experience highly desired
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
experienced organizational, written and verbal communication skills
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Skilled with ERP systems
Ability to meet deadlines
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
