The permanent Controller position is situated in the North Dallas, Texas area. This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Candidates who know how to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will do well in this role along with creative types who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Key responsibilities

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  • Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

    Requirements - Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills

  • Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Microsoft Excel experience desired
