Based in the North Tonawanda, New York area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. This role's duties will require effectively managing self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, leading while also being a team player, generating innovative ideas, and challenging the status quo. Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective Requirements - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Strong attention to detail
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Excellent oral and written communication skills
