Description
Job Description: Our client is seeking a skilled Cost Accountant to join their finance team in Tonwanda, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting or finance, with specific experience in manufacturing environments and cost accounting. As a Cost Accountant, you will play a crucial role in analyzing the company's costs, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular analysis of manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, processes, and procedures to ensure accurate cost allocation and reporting.
Analyze variances between standard costs and actual costs, investigating discrepancies and recommending corrective actions as needed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, procurement, and finance, to gather relevant cost data and insights.
Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and budgeting analyses to senior management.
Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations related to cost accounting.
Participate in inventory management activities, including valuation, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and cost accounting methodologies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification.
Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems, such as SAP or Oracle.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
