The Controller will be a full-time employment opportunity and will be located in the Norwalk, Connecticut region. This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. In this role, it will be critical for you to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. What you get to do every single day
Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties
Requirements - Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
QuickBooks experience desired
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
CPA or MBA preferred
Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
