Robert Half is working with a philanthropic, growing manufacturing organization in their search to hire a Controller in the Cedar Rapids, IA area. If you have a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting department, we have an exciting role to share! You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff.

Key responsibilities
Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations
Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible
Requirements - Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
CPA or MBA preferred
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills
Great attention to detail
Month end closings experience desired
Deep understanding of Operational Activities
Foundational knowledge in Budget Processes
Knowledge of financial reporting
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, and listening)
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
