Robert Half Property Accountant in Oak Brook, Illinois

Description Robert Half is looking for a Property Accountant for a client in the western suburbs. The primary responsibility of the Property Accountant is handling the day-to-day accounting operations of an assigned portfolio of properties. Prior experience in property accounting and proficiency with Yardi software are required for success in this role. After completing training, this position transitions to a hybrid work schedule.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for accounting for a portfolio of properties including general ledger month-end close and supporting work papers.

  • Reviews the balance sheet and income statement to ensure all transactions are recorded appropriately and timely. Analyzes and understands fluctuations in account balances and identifies drivers.

  • Maintains and updates individual property workbooks reviewed by management.

  • Reviews and approves payables ensuring proper GL coding and descriptions.

  • Prepares budget to actual variance reports.

  • Ensures compliance with internal controls and recommends additional policies and procedures to enhance controls.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Successful Property Accountant will have the following qualifications:

Education:

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in accounting or finance from a four-year college or university or equivalent professional knowledge and/or work experience.

Experience:

  • This position requires3+ years of prior professional experience in accounting in real estate.

Skills:

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Yardi are required for this position.

• Experience with audit and tax reviews

• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

• Must be legally authorized to work in the country.
