Robert Half Sr. Accountant in OAK PARK, Michigan


Robert Half currently has a permanent position open for an experienced Senior Accountant with drive and know-how to join a rapidly-growing team in the OAK PARK, Michigan area. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. How you will make an impact

  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives

  • Dedication to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process

  • Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations

  • Coordinate Ad-hoc projects as necessary

  • Prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting

  • Assist in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors

  • Execute monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP

  • Work with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls and provide support on special requests

  • Provide analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)

Requirements - Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Experience in SOX control execution/documentation

  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

  • 3-5 years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

  • Corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems experience a plus

  • Current and relevant ERP system experience

  • Command of AIA Documents

  • Prior experience with Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Adeptness in Construction Industry Experience

  • General familiarity with Sage Accounting Software

  • Proficiency in Monthly Close Processes

  • Experience with project accounting

  • Good understanding of Accounting Systems

  • Corporate Accounting experience highly valued

  • Foundational knowledge in Construction Accounting

  • Sage Software experience highly preferred

  • Background working with Sage Timberline

  • Earlier work involving Sage Timberline Software

  • AIA Billing experience desired

  • Construction Industry experience highly desired

  • Practical knowledge of Sage Pro

  • Knowledge of Monthly Close

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Sage 300

  • Perform Month-end experience preferred

  • General familiarity with month end closings

  • Foundational knowledge in Month-end Close Activities

  • Previous experience working with Computerized Accounting System

  • Hands-on experience with Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Adeptness in Month-end Journal Entries

  • Monthly Financial Close experience desired

  • Month-end Financial experience highly desired

  • Proficiency in construction

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Month-end Reports

  • Comprehension of Ledger Accounting

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, and listening)

  • Engages effectively in self-directed time management and prioritization of workload
