Robert Half Staff Accountant in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois
Description We are in search of a meticulous Staff Accountant to be an integral part of our team. Based in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, the Staff Accountant will be tasked with performing a variety of accounting responsibilities, with a focus on land lease property portfolios. This role is within the real estate industry, carrying out key functions in our office setting. This opportunity offers short term contract employment.
Responsibilities:
• Accurate processing of accounts payable, ensuring correct GL codes and required approvals.
• Handling full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties.
• Assisting with the preparation and input of journal entries for month-end close including accruals, depreciation, amortization, capitalization, and true-up entries.
• Analyzing variances, reviewing ledger details, and recording adjusted entries on assigned accounts.
• Ensuring accuracy of accounts receivable and collaborating with property managers to maintain rent roll precision.
• Processing expense approvals in a timely and accurate manner.
• Managing partnership accounting tasks, which include consolidation and elimination entries.
• Carrying out bank reconciliations.
• Providing support during year-end audits and tax preparation processes.
• Acting as a reliable liaison to vendors, accounting department colleagues, and other staff members.
• Performing related clerical duties and maintaining meticulous attention to detail. Requirements • Applicant must possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in the role of Staff Accountant or a similar position
• Proficiency in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is required
• Ability to perform Bank Reconciliations effectively
• Must have experience in managing the General Ledger
• Skilled in preparing and posting Journal Entries
• Experience in handling Month End Close procedures
• Proficiency in QuickBooks software is required
• Knowledge of Avid DS software is an advantage
• Must have a strong understanding of GAAP Accounting principles
• Experience in Property Accounting is preferred
