Description

A prestigious Oakland, California law firm is seeking an experienced Business Litigation Attorney to join its dedicated legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business litigation, with experience supporting complex commercial disputes, including breach of contract, fraud, partnership disputes, shareholder issues, and other business-related conflicts. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-stakes cases, providing strategic legal support and counsel to a diverse client base, including corporations, partnerships, and individual business owners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing all phases of business litigation cases, including case assessment, legal research, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.

  • Draft, review, and assist in filing legal documents related to business disputes, including complaints, answers, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.

  • Support the discovery process, including depositions, interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.

  • Assist in developing and implementing litigation strategies that align with clients’ business objectives and are designed to achieve favorable outcomes.

  • Advise clients on risk management, dispute resolution options, and litigation avoidance strategies.

  • Provide support in mediation, arbitration, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

  • Support attorneys in administrative hearings and interactions with regulatory agencies.

  • Assist in negotiating and drafting settlement agreements, working to resolve disputes efficiently and favorably for clients.

  • Provide clear and strategic legal advice to clients on case developments tailored to their business needs.

  • Collaborate with other attorneys in the firm to provide comprehensive legal services, including coordinating with corporate, real estate, and employment law teams.

    Requirements

Key Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Active California State Bar membership in good standing.

  • 3+ years of experience in business litigation, with a strong understanding of California business and commercial law.

  • Extensive knowledge of California civil procedure, contract law, and commercial transactions.

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to craft persuasive legal arguments.

  • Experience supporting depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.

  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis, and familiarity with case management software.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and other legal professionals.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
