Description

AmLaw 100 law firm has an immediate opening for an experienced litigation secretary! The ideal candidate will have a solid background in State and Federal e-filing systems, a keen understanding of litigation calendaring, proven experience in trial preparation, and capable of managing a broad spectrum of cases from complex commercial litigation to slip and fall claims. As a Litigation Secretary, you will play a crucial role in supporting our legal team and ensuring the smooth flow of litigation processes. This is a fully remote, long term contract/temporary assignment. Must be based out of California in order to be considered.

Responsibilities:

• Manage both State and Federal e-filing processes for a variety of litigation cases

• Maintain and organize litigation calendars, making sure all deadlines are met

• Assist attorneys in preparing for trials

• Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings for various litigation scenarios

• Collaborate with legal teams on different cases, adapting to each unique requirement

• Conduct legal research across a range of practice areas as needed

• Handle administrative tasks associated with diverse litigation matters

• Utilize LexisNexis, Management System, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suites effectively in completing tasks

• Perform billing functions, dictation, documentation, e-File, and e-Filing duties

• Leverage your civil litigation experience for trial preparation

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 of experience as a Litigation Secretary, demonstrating versatility in handling various types of litigation.

  • Proficient in State and Federal e-filing systems.

  • Strong knowledge of litigation calendaring procedures across different practice areas.

  • Experience in trial preparation for both complex litigation and simpler cases like slip and fall claims.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

  • Proficient in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Candidates must live in California
