Description Company Overview: We are representing a non-profit organization located in downtown Oakland. Their mission is to create and preserve equal housing opportunities for low and moderate-income people, primarily in the Bay Area, and to encourage and support strong and diverse neighborhoods. We are seeking a dynamic Payroll/HR Specialist to join the Finance Department. Their office is conveniently located in Downtown Oakland, just a few minutes walking-distance from a Bart Station. Payroll/HR Specialist Duties & Responsibilities
· Process weekly company payroll and ensures all payroll transactions are administered accurately for time, earnings, pre-tax and post-tax deductions for benefits, garnishments, levy, taxes, and other items that affect employee pay This encompasses salary, benefit changes, and retirement benefits. · Research discrepancies of payroll data, communicates any complex or technical payroll issues, reconciles errors, and resolves to ensure accuracy of payroll. · Maintains and prepares weekly employee PTO balances · Prepares 401k report and responsible for the weekly and timely upload · Prepares and submits weekly Child Support Withholdings to various agencies · Assists with annual open enrollment by inputting changes that affect payroll deductions and or any administration of policy changes affecting payroll. · Participates in yearly payroll audits from external agencies by providing reports · Reconciles benefit payables against all payroll premium deductions monthly · Assists Accounts Payable function as directed by Assistant Controller · Payroll Accountant Skills and Qualifications Requirements Requirements
· Degree in Accounting preferred but not required · 2-5 years experience with payroll in organization with 100+ employees · Strong analytical skills with the ability to review own work · Proficiency in Excel (lookup functions and pivot tables) · Must be able to act in a detail oriented manner with confidential information · Excellent work ethics · Must be able to multi-task while maintaining great attention to detail
