The Senior Accountant furthers the company's goals through the preparation and consolidation of financial statements, the analysis and reconciliations of accounts, and the analysis of cash flow, as well as the creation of budgets and forecasts, preparation of audits, and management of internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. This Senior Accountant role is based in Oakland, California with a company in the Construction/Contractor field.
What you get to do every single day
Prepare financial analysis on trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc.
Apply oneself to various department-wide initiatives
Uphold company standards when working with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls; while also providing support on special requests when required
Allocate and prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis reports for management
Administer Ad-hoc projects as necessary
Provide Balance Sheet account reconciliations
Contribute to coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors
Complete monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables that includes journal entries, reconciliations, and reports in the compensation area in compliance with GAAP
Strong interest in continuously improving the automation of the accounting and reporting process Requirements - High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
SEC reporting and SOX compliance is a plus
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
Solid understanding of journal entries
General ledger experience
General Journal experience required
Construction experience
General ledger experience
3-5 years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
Familiarity with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Exceptional time management skills preferred
Efficient in ERP systems
