Robert Half International Staff Accountant in Oakland, California

Venture-backed real-estate software company in Downtown Oakland seeks an entry-level Staff Accountant to assist in general ledger and accounts payable management. The Junior Staff Accountant will directly assist both the Accounting Manager and CFO team members with the month-end close process, reconciliation of general ledgers, maintenance of revenue and accounts payable systems, maintenance of support schedules for specific accounts, management of the annual audit process, and other accounting functions.

Essential Functions ?Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information ?Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents ?Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures ?Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information ?Maintains financial security by following internal controls ?Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations ?Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends ?Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies ?Prompt and regular attendance ?Comply with all company policy and procedures ?Maintain strict confidentiality at all times on matters pertaining to company and its associates ?Other duties as assigned by senior management

Knowledge, Skills Abilities: ?One - two years Accounting experience. ?Experience with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills required. ?Primary responsibility is to assist with the preparation of financial statements and support schedules per corporate time lines. ?Assist with the monthly close procedures. ?Prepare account reconciliations (cash, liabilities, fixed assets, payroll accruals) and supporting sub-ledgers. ?Research and resolve account reconciling items. ?Assist with documentation and testing of internal enterprise reporting system upgrades and modifications. ?Assist with preparation of audit sampling package for external internal audits. ?Support other team members as necessary.

Education: Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
