Description
My client , a well-established nonprofit- is looking for a tax manager. Based in Oakton, Virginia, you will be expected to manage and supervise tax-related tasks, while ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities:
• Preparation of 990 and 990- T (50% of the work). 25% will be related to indirect taxes. Remaining 25% will be other duties (journal entries and reconciliations) that are unique to the organization.
• Responsible for the completion of various federal, state and local surveys and questionnaires.
• Conducting analysis and reconciliation of membership, contribution, and net assets accounts.
• Preparing monthly net assets reconciliations and maintaining internal grant reporting and reconciliations for net assets.
• Managing restricted funds and endowment grants.
• Handling inquiries regarding sales and use tax treatment of transactions and overseeing tax compliance for special events.
• Analyzing potential unrelated income for tax liability for annual state income/franchise tax returns.
• Reviewing and analyzing data needed for use tax accruals.
• Overseeing state sales and use tax audits and various IRS audits.
• Preparing and reviewing monthly use tax and miscellaneous tax accrual analysis, and sales tax liability reconciliation.
Requirements
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting tax or corporate tax management. Public tax and corporate tax mix is ideal.
• Strong knowledge in compliance and regulations within the non-profit sector.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing Tax - Form 990.
• CPA preferred.
• Excellent documentation skills, with the ability to maintain and organize accurate records.
• Strong understanding of the non-profit industry.
