Job Description: Linux Systems Analyst
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Intermediate Systems Analyst with specialized experience in RedHat Server administration and Unix environments. The ideal candidate will possess mid to large company experience as a Unix/RedHat administrator, coupled with strong scripting skills. As a key member of our IT team, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing, planning, and implementing system improvements to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze current IT systems, including hardware, software, and network components, focusing on Unix and RedHat environments, to identify inefficiencies or areas for improvement.
Collaborate with management and employees to gather system requirements and understand business needs.
Design and plan new systems that address existing challenges within Unix and RedHat environments.
Prepare comprehensive cost-benefit analysis reports for proposed system upgrades or implementations.
Work closely with the IT team to implement and test new systems, ensuring they meet quality standards and user requirements.
Assist in developing training processes, documentation, system guidelines, and manuals for new systems.
Conduct regular system reviews, generate reports on efficiencies and improvement areas, and present findings to management.
Stay informed about the latest developments in information systems, particularly within Unix and RedHat technologies.
Adhere to budget and timeline constraints to ensure project success.
Perform various duties as required to fulfill the function of the position.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for prolonged periods and use computer equipment.
Manual dexterity for operating computer peripherals.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Environmental Conditions:
Office work environment.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 3+years of experience as a Systems Analyst or in a similar role.
Specialized experience in RedHat Server administration and Unix environments within a mid to large company setting.
Strong scripting skills for automation and system maintenance tasks.
Knowledge of data modeling and data visualization tools.
Ability to thrive in stressful situations and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
