Description
Position Overview: The Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of computer systems, servers, and network infrastructure. This role ensures that the IT infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently, supporting the organization's needs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in systems administration, network management, and a solid understanding of both on-premises and cloud-based environments.
Key Responsibilities:
System Installation and Configuration:
Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage systems, and network equipment.
Implement and manage virtual environments using technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM.
Deploy and configure operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and enterprise applications.
System Maintenance and Monitoring:
Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability of critical systems.
Perform regular system updates, patches, and security configurations.
Manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
Conduct regular system audits and generate performance reports.
Network Management:
Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network traffic.
Implement and enforce network security policies to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
Manage DNS, DHCP, and other network services.
Active Directory and Identity Management:
Manage and maintain Active Directory, including user accounts, group policies, and organizational units.
Implement and manage identity and access management solutions (e.g., Azure AD, SSO, MFA).
Conduct regular audits and maintain compliance with security standards and policies.
Cloud Services Management:
Administer cloud-based services and infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Manage cloud resources, including virtual machines, storage, databases, and networking.
Ensure security and compliance of cloud services and perform regular audits.
Automation and Scripting:
Develop and maintain scripts to automate repetitive tasks and improve system efficiency.
Utilize scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for system administration tasks.
Security Management:
Implement and manage security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-virus solutions.
Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans.
Respond to and mitigate security incidents, ensuring minimal impact on operations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging security threats and best practices.
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in managing Windows Server, Linux, and virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs) and network management.
Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud resource management.
Skilled in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
Security Knowledge:
Knowledge of security best practices and tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, anti-virus).
Experience conducting security assessments and responding to incidents.
