Robert Half Systems Administrator in Olive Branch, Mississippi

Description

We are recruiting for a Systems Administrator to do the following:

System Maintenance and Support:

  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and software applications to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and optimize performance.

  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to address security vulnerabilities and enhance system reliability.

Network Administration:

  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, to ensure secure and reliable connectivity.

  • Configure and optimize network settings, protocols, and security policies to support business requirements and protect against cyber threats.

  • Implement network monitoring tools and protocols to proactively identify and resolve network issues and performance bottlenecks.

Data Backup and Recovery:

  • Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies to protect critical data and ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or disasters.

  • Regularly test backup systems and recovery procedures to verify their effectiveness and reliability in restoring data and systems.

Security Management:

  • Implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard company data, systems, and infrastructure from unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats.

  • Conduct security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify and remediate security risks and compliance gaps.

User Support and Training:

  • Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and resolving technical problems in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Develop user documentation, training materials, and knowledge base articles to empower employees to use IT systems and applications effectively.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Proven experience as a systems administrator or similar role, with a strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems management, and network administration principles.

  • Proficiency in administering Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems, virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).

  • Hands-on experience with network protocols, security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs), and IT security best practices.

  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions, data encryption methods, and endpoint security tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), CompTIA Network+, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are a plus.
