Description
Robert Half Finance & Accounting is working with a client in the Omaha, NE area looking for a permanent, full-time Staff Accountant to join their well-established and growing company. Candidates should be driven by challenges and working with many components. To succeed in this Staff Accountant role, you will need to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. This role's duties include internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. This Omaha, Nebraska area-based position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.
Main Responsibilities:
Produce journal entries and perform the month end close under minimal supervision
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries
Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting
Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Prepare analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management to report on
Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
Requirements
Requirements & Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field desired, but equivalent experience may be considered
3+ years of progressive accounting experience required
Experience performing month-end close & general ledger activities desired
Experience performing balance sheet account reconciliations desired
Strong technology and software skills required; prior full-scale ERP system or accounting software experience a plus
