Robert Half Staff Accountant in Omaha, Nebraska

Description We are offering an engaging opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the health insurance industry, located in Omaha, Nebraska. As a Staff Accountant, you will be involved in various tasks such as preparing complex financial reports, reconciling general ledger accounts, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare financial reporting work papers on a regular basis, ensuring sufficient detail is included to support financial statements

• Conduct account reconciliations by comparing account balances to system generated reports

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, following the guidelines of the NAIC Accounting Practices and Procedures Manual

• Prepare complex financial reports as required or requested for rating agencies, corporate management or other entities

• Maintain an audit trail for internal and external auditors, as well as state examiners

• Keep up-to-date with changes to accounting regulations, guidelines, tax laws, etc. to ensure compliance

• Use software programs such as Microsoft Office, General Ledger software, Blackline, and others for financial report preparation

• Adhere to internal control procedures to ensure protection of company assets

• Utilize skills in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close, NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP for efficient functioning

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously within strict deadlines. Requirements • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or related field

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management

• Experience in conducting Bank Reconciliations

• Familiarity with General Ledger management

• Ability to create and maintain Journal Entries

• Experience in handling Month End Close procedures

• Proficiency in using NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP

• Knowledge of the Health Insurance industry

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred

• Professional accounting certification such as CPA is a plus

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
