Robert Half Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director in Ontario, California

Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity in the construction industry located in Ontario, California. The role involves supervising and managing payroll functions, specifically in a multi-state, multi-entity environment. The position is set within an office workplace and is offered as a permanent position.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the payroll process for a large number of employees, ensuring pay is processed accurately and in compliance with government regulations

• Conduct audits on payroll reports to ensure changes were made and payroll is accurate before it is finalized; audit payroll register after processing

• Complete Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly Payroll Reporting

• Produce Payroll Reconciliations for Balance Sheet Accounts related to Payroll (FSA, 401k, Tax Liabilities, Workers Comp, etc.)

• Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deduction

• Be cross-trained as a backup to process weekly payroll and other payroll related items

• Liaise with internal finance departments for payroll funding, auditing, reconciliation and reporting

• Verify hours, tax withholdings, deductions, bonuses, union fringes shift differential and other incentives

• Prepare communications, such as memos, emails, reports, and other correspondence to update the company on payroll related items

• Monitor payroll expenditures to ensure appropriate account charges, identify and implement corrective action for any variances.

Requirements

• Possess a minimum of 7+ years of experience in a Payroll supervisory/managerial role, preferably in the construction/contractor industry

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for extensive data analysis and management

• Thorough knowledge of accounting functions, with a specific focus on payroll processes

• Experience with union payroll is a MUST, demonstrating an understanding of union contract requirements and regulations

• Familiarity with Paychex Payroll system for efficient payroll management

• Experience in handling multistate payroll, understanding the unique requirements and laws of different states

• Demonstrate strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and supervise a team effectively

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various departments

• Detail-oriented and possess strong analytical skills for accurate payroll processing and auditing

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion, given the sensitive nature of the role.
