Robert Half Staff Accountant in Orangeburg, New York

Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in the Paper/Packaging industry, located in ORANGEBURG, New York. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity and involves supporting the monthly accounting closes, preparing audit support, cash forecasting, and cash reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

• Support the monthly accounting closes by performing detailed analyses within the department

• Prepare all required journal entries and support for tax returns

• Review BVRs to ensure accurate coding and classification

• Prepare daily cash forecasts and serve as an administrator for the banking system

• Analyze accounts such as prepaids, misc. accruals, misc. receivables, straight line rent accruals, intercompany accounts, and deposits

• Conduct monthly cash reconciliations and provide support in the preparation of consolidated financial statements

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, monitor, and analyze departmental and company-wide budgets and forecasts

• Provide insights on financial performances and variances

• Have significant interaction with auditors

• Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of GAAP and advanced excel skills

• Automate cash forecasting process and bank reconciliations

• Assist in the development of new processes to improve the timeliness and accuracy of current reporting and analysis.

Skills Required:

• Account Reconciliation

• Journal Entries

• Proficiency in Oracle Requirements • Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

• Proven experience in Account Reconciliation and Journal Entries is required.

• Knowledge and proficiency in Oracle software is essential.

• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

• Experience in the Paper/Packaging industry is a plus.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is desirable.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential is preferred.

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local financial legal requirements is beneficial.
