Robert Half Staff Accountant in Orlando, Florida
Description Robert Half is on the look-out for an organized individual with accounting chops to join a growing Transport organization in the long-term contract / contract / contract / temporary to full-time role of Staff Accountant. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Be a part of various department-wide initiatives Requirements - Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Knowledgeable of ERP systems
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Solid understanding of general ledger
Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation experience
Command of bank reconciliations
Foundational knowledge in month end closings
