The Accountant position is responsible for managing fixed assets and supporting the monthly and annual close process for various entities within the organization. This position is responsible for a wide range of accounting and compliance functions for our client. This position reports to the Controller.

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Assist with the month end close accounting process, including preparing and posting journal entries and reconciling select general ledger accounts.

Manage all aspects of fixed asset accounting including asset additions, disposals, and recording monthly depreciation.

Capital project management.

Prepare monthly sales and use tax reports and annual property tax returns.

Maintain prepaid, property tax, and insurance schedules.

Report unclaimed properties.

Lease accounting, including evaluation of new and existing leases and recording regular journal entries related to leases.

Must be able to cross train in areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other administrative areas as assigned.

Support the development and documentation of processes and policies in the accounting department.

Make recommendations for control/process improvement and assist in implementing changes.

Assist in preparing work papers (PBCs) for year-end audit as needed.

Complete special projects, ad-hoc reporting upon management request, and miscellaneous accounting tasks as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

Ability to work independently and see tasks and assignments through to completion.

Clear and professional communication style, team player, and strong organization skills.

Build positive relationships with operations managers and other key stakeholders.

Understanding of accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

High degree of business curiosity.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Strong data entry skills (typing, ten-key, etc.).

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.


Two to five years general accounting experience.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with emphasis in accounting.

Preferred Education and Experience

CPA candidate preferred.
