Description

We are looking for a meticulous Medical Underwriter to support our clients team in Overland Park, Kansas. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating health insurance applications, conducting medical risk assessments and making informed decisions based on industry regulations and medical knowledge. This role offers a contract-to-hire employment opportunity in the medical underwriting industry.

Responsibilities:

• Review and evaluate health insurance applications, medical histories, and related documents to assess applicants' medical risks.

• Collaborate with internal departments to gather and analyze relevant information, ensuring accurate and comprehensive underwriting decisions.

• Utilize medical knowledge and industry guidelines to assess pre-existing conditions, potential risks, and overall insurability.

• Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and professionally to agents, brokers, and applicants, providing explanations when necessary.

• Stay updated on industry trends, medical advancements, and regulatory changes to adapt underwriting practices and ensure compliance.

• Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance medical underwriting skills and knowledge.

• Maintain accurate and organized records of underwriting assessments, decisions, and related documentation.

• Assist in developing and refining underwriting guidelines, processes, and policies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements • Proficient in processing loan applications in line with established guidelines and standards.

• Demonstrated understanding of the mortgage industry and related financial products.

• Proven experience in loan review and validation, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

• Strong analytical skills to assess loan applications and customer financial information.

• Excellent communication skills for liaising with customers, loan officers, and underwriters.

• Detail-oriented and organized to manage multiple loan files simultaneously.

• Knowledge of lending compliance laws and regulations.

• Proficiency in using loan processing and underwriting systems.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills to handle issues that arise during the loan process.
