Description If you're an experienced accountant with a keen eye for accuracy, there's an exciting opportunity through Robert Half for you to check out at a growing firm. The responsibilities of a Staff Accountant entail preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. Many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close will be your reponsibility. You will also participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. A highly involved position, it works to produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. The Owings Mills, Maryland based company is offering this position on a long-term contract / temporary basis. They provide an innovative work environment where effort is rewarded.
Major responsibilities
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision Requirements - Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Skilled with ERP systems
Deep understanding of account reconciliation
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Solid understanding of navigating basic office equipment and protocols
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
