Robert Half Staff Accountant in OWINGS MILLS, Maryland

Based in the Owings Mills, Maryland area, this exciting long-term contract / temporary opportunity is set in an engaging work place where hard work is rewarded. Responsibilities held by the Staff Accountant include the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You will also be in charge of many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. In addition, you will be in charge of communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, playing an active role in compliance, and looking over schedules for the reporting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings

  • Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

  • Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

  • Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

  • Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Participate in various department-wide initiatives

  • Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Bank reconciliations experience desired

  • Command of Microsoft Excel

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Current and relevant ERP system experience

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

  • Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
