Robert Half Cost Accountant in Oxnard, California

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Cost Accountant in Oxnard, California. As a vital part of our team, you will be responsible for supporting our operations teams and driving the costing and other operations finance initiatives to increase efficiency within our plants. This role requires coordination and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, flexibility and adaptability to a changing environment, and excellent data handling skills.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain the plants’ absorption-based production standards including standard cost estimates, product set-up costs, activity rates, creation of work cells, overhead allocations, and all other standard cost related activities.

• Prepare monthly financial closing for manufacturing variances, scrap by product, labor and manufacturing overhead variances.

• Set up and maintain daily labor reporting and variance analysis to drive efficiency analysis.

• Perform time studies to track labor efficiency across shifts and lines.

• Set up accurate throughput and downtime reporting on our operations system for daily review.

• Review all new BOM set ups and routings to ensure accurate inventory valuation.

• Manage and maintain report of capital spends and associated cost saving project reporting.

• Collaborate with the operations team on tracking of all projects for improvement efficiencies and reporting upon them monthly.

• Lead annual review of production standards with plants and executive leadership team to ensure cost management, optimization, full fixed and variable absorption, and product/customer margin.

• Collaborate with executive leadership team with forecasting and budgeting.

• Analyze working capital by providing perpetual inventory, monitoring cycle and/or physical inventories, and reporting of variances to senior leadership. Requirements • Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

• Possess strong skills in cost analysis.

• Demonstrated experience with manufacturing variance.

• Proficiency in performing month end close procedures.

• Prior experience in a Cost Accountant role is preferred.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong knowledge of financial regulations and legislation.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
