Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team in Oxnard, California. In this role, you will be tasked with a variety of complex accounting activities and financial analyses. You'll have the opportunity to use your hands-on accounting experience and in-depth understanding of accounting principles to contribute significantly to our finance team.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough analysis of complex financial reports and records

• Provide recommendations based on the analysis and status of reserves, assets and expenditures

• Assist with financial and tax audits, ensuring all relevant documentation is prepared and available

• Train and mentor entry level staff, fostering a supportive and educational environment

• Coordinate complex accounting projects and initiatives with other departments or members of the accounting and finance team

• Conduct regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy

• Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries made by entry level accountants

• Oversee clerical staff in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, coordinating activities and providing answers to queries

• Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures

• Ensure financial information is secure by following internal controls

• Manage the preparation of payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements

• Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential

• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions

• Audit contracts and purchase orders, advising changes as per accounting principles to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement

• Oversee the monthly and year-end closing of the general ledger, including preparation of journal entries

• Coordinate activities of other entry level accountants and clerical workers performing accounting tasks, assisting the Manager in training of Staff Accountant 1 and 2

• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation for all accounts, verifying accuracy of bank statements and maintaining integrity of cash balances and cash flow systems

• Review and audit payroll processes

• Maintain fixed asset records and control, determining depreciation terms/rates to apply to capitalized items

• Assist the Manager in coordination of audits and preparation of schedules and documents for outside auditors. Requirements • Candidate must possess strong knowledge and experience in Accounts Payable (AP) operations.

• Proficiency in managing Accounts Receivable (AR) is essential for this role.

• Applicants should have a proven track record in conducting Bank Reconciliations.

• Familiarity with the General Ledger and its related functionalities is required.

• Hands-on experience in Journal Entries is critical for this position.

• The role demands proficiency in Month End Close procedures.

• Candidates should have a solid understanding of Inventory Analysis.
