Robert Half Senior Payroll Specialist in Palo Alto, California

Description A vacancy for a Payroll Administrator has become available with a client of Robert Half in the Professional Services industry. The accurate and timely production of payroll for employees will be ensured by the Payroll Administrator in this position. Major responsibilities

  • Obey to current payroll tax requirements and relevant laws associated with the processing of employee wage data, including payroll taxes, employee federal and state income and social security taxes and other required reporting

  • Explore payroll areas, pay practices related to FLSA, and fringe benefit reporting to determine how those practices apply to advise management

  • Generate systems and protocols to direct the collection, calculation and entering of pay data

  • Address voluntary deductions, as well as wage garnishments, pay levies, and other involuntary court-ordered payments in a timely manner, including reporting to the necessary authorities

  • Arrange timely processing of payroll in accordance with labor regulations and standard accounting principles

  • Direct regular payroll reporting as required and assist with financial audits related to pay records and associated general ledger

  • Accommodate staff with fringe benefits, pay related issues, general questions related to payroll, PTO accruals, and wage deductions

  • Cooperate with Human Resources, Information Technology, and other internal business partners to ensure security protocols for pay systems

  • Administer quarterly and year-end payroll reports

  • Scan data entered by others in the payroll software to include, but not limited to salary/wage increases, benefit deductions, employee termination dates, and employee leaves of absence under FMLA or other unpaid leave Requirements - Experience working with an HRIS system and high proficiency with spreadsheets is a necessity

    • Previous involvement in various withholdings, processing liens, and garnishments

    • CPP or FPC prescribed

  • 3+ years of payroll experience

  • Quality experience with Payroll Taxes

  • Earlier work involving Process Payroll

  • Well-founded grasp of Paychex Payroll

  • Command of benefits payroll

  • Comprehension of Weekly Payroll

  • bi-Monthly Payroll experience

  • Previous experience working with Process Biweekly Payroll

  • Good understanding of Reconcile Payroll

  • Skills in Workday Payroll

  • General familiarity with payroll

  • Practical knowledge of payroll systems for 100-500 employees

  • Full Cycle Payroll experience

  • Local Payroll Tax experience highly desired

  • Wide ranging experience with Process Bi-weekly Payroll

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Automated Payroll

  • Experience with Year-end Payroll

  • Proven knowledge of Multi-state Payroll
