Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in PAWTUCKET, Rhode Island


Robert Half is seeking a permanent Accounts Payable (A/P) Specialist to become an essential part of a client's team. As the Accounts Payable Specialist, your duties will include developing, implementing, and maintaining systems, procedures and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines, preparing invoices for payment including matching invoices to receiving purchase orders and obtaining proper authorization for payment, and reconciling and analyzing vendor accounts. The Accounts Payable Specialist role is a permanent position based in the Pawtucket, Rhode Island area.


  • Monitor accounts payable email inbox and physical mail for invoices, payment requests or questions and respond in a timely manner

  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to vouchering for payment

  • Resolves discrepancies regarding price, quantity and terms between supplier’s invoices and Company’s purchase orders in conjunction with the Company buyer.

  • Record account distribution for all Company expenses

  • Manages vendor relations

  • Maintains vendor files and assists in production of 1099 forms.

  • Research vendor statements and past due notifications and resolve outstanding balances

  • Play a key function in researching, resolving, and applying applicable credits

  • Match, validate, and mail check payments

  • Prepare and process vendor payments in a timely manner- check runs, ACH’s and Wire transfers for USD and CAD currency

  • Prints all accounts payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files.

  • Provide back up support to billing clerk/financial analyst

  • Assists in monthly closings

  • Assist with other accounting tasks/ projects

  • Adhere to all practices, policies, and procedures according to ISO 9001 and ISO 14000 requirements



  • 3-5 years related worked experience

  • Ability to solve problems and know when to escalate to the next level for resolution

  • Detail oriented, organized, utilize problem-solving skills, and ability to multi-task

  • Strong communication skills both in writing and verbal

  • Experience in manufacturing environment preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, & Microsoft Word

  • Experience with Access and JOMAR ERP software preferred
