Robert Half Full Charge Bookkeeper in Petersburg, Virginia
Description Accounting professional who thrives under tight deadlines with minimal supervision this could be the Bookkeeper role for you if you are self-driven and organized. A Full Charge Bookkeeper has become available with one of our clients. The Full Charge Bookkeeper will handle bank reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, cash flow, financial statement preparation, audit, full cycle A/P, and payroll. The Full Charge Bookkeeper can also be responsible for the clerical staff. This permanent employment opportunity is based in the Petersburg, Virginia area. Major responsibilities
Report business license and gross receipts
Iron out subcontractor 1099's, and any other IRS year-end requirement
Provide cash flow projections, as needed
Manage sales tax records and create and file quarterly payments
Familiar with Accounts Receivable
Competent in credit card management and reconciliation
Generate cash account journal entries including loans, taxes, bank fees, 401(k) deductions, etc.
Other distinguished projects when necessary
Keep Accounts Payable up to date
Supervise monthly accounting close
Provide monthly reconciliations, financial statements and all supporting documents
Note budget transfers Requirements - Excellent attention to detail
Highly organized, attentive, has a sense of urgency, flexible and able to deal with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
Deep understanding of W2
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Expertise in Form 1099
- Prior accounting experience, including as a Bookkeeper preferred
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Demonstrated ability to implement solutions, strong analytical and communication skills as well
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business-related field preferred
