Robert Half Accountant in PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania

Your responsibilities in this role

  • Complete other related duties and assist with special projects as needed

  • Utilize a number of sources to create statements and reports

  • Handle accounts payable tasks: vendor invoices and disbursement filing, A/P invoice matching & filing

  • Accurately code documents with expenditure codes and accounting codes

  • Support Accounts Receivable by processing daily invoices/credit, applying cash receipts, and helping with collection of past due balances

  • Help with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, and other general accounting projects

  • Reconcile discrepancies by examining possible sources of disagreement, recreating likely actions, and identifying the effect on other accounts; prepare correction documents as needed

  • Manually or electronically post financial information


  • AA or BS/BA in Accounting or Finance

  • Spreadsheet and ERP system experience is ideal, but not required

  • 5+ years of accounting experience required

  • Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with individuals of all backgrounds

  • Demonstrated knowledge of journal entries

  • Knowledge of Non-Union

  • Earlier work involving bookkeeping

  • Background working with Basic Bookkeeping

  • Billing experience highly preferred

  • Hands-on experience with Paycheck

  • Experience with Paychex Payroll

  • Good understanding of Bookkeeping Functions

  • Prior experience with Microsoft Excel

  • Union payroll experience

  • Adeptness in general ledger

  • Practical knowledge of payroll

  • Union Dues experience

  • Previous experience working with Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Accounts Payable (AP) experience highly valued

  • Union payroll experience

  • General familiarity with financial statement preparation

  • Solid understanding of Credit Union Policy

  • Comprehension of Paycheck
