Robert Half Applications Architect in PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania

Description

The Application Architect organizes the lifecycle of new development on future and existing products. This includes managing daily product development efforts, designing product architecture, and reviewing product requirements. You will be responsible for translating product specifications into production level applications as well as managing complex interactions between business processes and technologies.

What you get to do every single day:

  • Oversee the deployment of alpha and beta releases during the stabilization of new product development.

  • Conduct code reviews -- identifying best practices and efficiency steps for increased stability and capability.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned by management.

  • Guide team members to grow abilities and strengthen capabilities.

  • Architect, design, and document solutions to product specifications for shared capabilities throughout the architecture.

  • Create, establish, and sustain technical architecture standards and develop cross-product frameworks and best practices.

  • Get hands-on with code development for web-based n-tier applications.

  • Work to understand requirements and create functionality specifications with the product team.

  • Control the timeline for product development.

  • Determine and progress development standards, guidelines, procedures, processes, and metrics.

  • Support developers in a technical and non-technical capacity- Help with product release planning and assessing feature viability/effort.

  • Assist in writing the technical section of functional specifications for new product development.

  • Capable of learning new technologies related to the Web and application development.

  • Capable of decomposing and prioritizing components of large systems.

  • 10+ years of experience in application development, software design, and architecture.

  • Strong understanding of database design.

  • Skilled in threading, asynchronous event handling, data binding, scripting and query languages/tools.

  • 5+ years of experience in team management in a related field.

  • Presentation experience, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • BA/BS in Software Engineering or Computer Science.

  • Demonstrated capability to lead small teams and work independently.

  • Experience with creating realistic plans, goals, and aligning plans with company goals, managing resources, and creating contingency plans.

  • Experience in a consulting environment with business analysis, data management, system architecture, and distributed technologies.

  • Software development language skills preferred.

  • Ability to document issues and proposed improvements while evaluating an existing architecture

  • Ability to create, debug, secure, test, and optimize code for multiple web-based applications and services.
