Robert Half Legal Assistant in PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania
Description Legal Assistants directly support lawyers and occasionally oversee other legal staff, such as file clerks or legal secretaries.Legal Assistants should have strong analytical, communication and organizational skills, as well as computer and technical knowledge.Three to five years of legal experience in a law firm or other corporate legal department may be preferred.
Major responsibilities
Delegate legal research and investigative tasks, including obtaining information or documents from outside parties, as directed
Check through and retrieve electronic documents from a variety of court and agency web sites
Ensure documents are ready for photocopying and scanning
Categorize documents and assemble data as directed by lawyers and paralegals
Implement word processing, filing and faxing
Write communications and memorandum
Develop an organization system for e-documents and files
Cross-reference copied documents with originals to ensure accuracy
Lead the maintenance of computer database input and retrieval
Handle matter management and record keeping Requirements - Investigating the factual evidence of a transaction or case and preparing exhibits, charts and diagrams to display information
Organizing and tracking files for important transactions or case documents, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents; creating and maintaining a case-management database
3+ years of previous legal work experience and a dedication to integrity
Conducting routine discovery
Drafting legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits and subpoenas; transactional documents, such as trusts, wills, contracts and real estate leases; and closing documents
Experience assisting lawyers in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trials and conferences; completing many administrative tasks, including, working on individual cases or transactions
Personal Injury Law experience
