Robert Half Patient Service Representative in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Description

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Patient Service Representative in the healthcare industry, specifically within a renowned rehabilitation network. The role will be based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The selected Patient Service Representative candidate will be expected to perform a variety of tasks that ensure smooth patient service operations, ranging from greeting visitors and scheduling appointments to managing difficult customers and assisting in patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Greet and direct visitors, determining the purpose of their visit and guiding them to the appropriate staff.

• Manage patient documentation, instructing patients to fill out necessary intake and insurance forms.

• Schedule, cancel, and confirm patient appointments in a timely and accurate manner.

• Compile, record, and archive medical charts, reports, and correspondence while maintaining confidentiality.

• Operate telecommunication systems to direct calls, emails, and documents to the right staff.

• Carry out various clerical and administrative tasks like ordering, receiving, and maintaining an inventory of supplies.

• Transmit correspondence and medical records through mail, e-mail, or fax.

• Verify insurance details, obtain authorizations and certifications, and explain patient responsibility forms.

• Perform financial functions such as copay collection, reconciliation, and deposits with accuracy to ensure optimal payment for services.

• Assist the billing department with insurance denials by monitoring and working on worklists in the electronic medical records system.

• Utilize basic computer skills for efficient record-keeping and communication.

Requirements

• Possess basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, both in person and over the phone

• Prior experience in a healthcare or NHS setting is preferred

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with healthcare regulations

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively

• Willingness to work in a team-oriented environment

• Understanding of medical terminology is an advantage

• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is a plus

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure

• Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality customer service.
