Robert Half VP/ Controller in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Description

We are seeking a VP/ Controller to join our client's team located in the Philadelphia region. This VP/ Controller role requires managing the general ledger, improving accounting systems, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The VP/ Controller will also work with external audit and tax teams to ensure a smooth and timely year-end close.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the general ledger, including overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation, and expense reimbursements.

  • Execute month-end closing procedures, identifying any assets or liabilities that have not been recorded.

  • Assess the accounting system's efficiency, propose enhancements, and carry out upgrades.

  • Regularly evaluate accounting policies and procedures to ensure they align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Enhance the internal control environment by pinpointing and resolving perceived shortcomings.

  • Guarantee the proper and efficient functioning of accounting systems, making necessary improvements.

  • Partner with external auditors to facilitate a seamless and prompt year-end audit.

  • Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure timely completion of all mandatory tax filings.

  • Support the management and upkeep of the company's banking infrastructure, payment systems, and credit card programs.

    Requirements

The ideal VP/ Controller candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in systems, finance or accounting strongly preferred. MBA preferred.

Other requirements for the VP/ Controller position include and are not limited to:

  • 5+ years experience in a Director role or previous experience as a Controller

  • Active CPA License Required

  • Distribution industry experience

  • Experience working with enterprise-level ERP systems like JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP, etc.

  • Ability to lead, manage, and grow a high-performing team

  • Demonstrated and strong understanding of all phases of sales, payable and payroll cycles, period closes, accruals, taxation, accounting processes, internal controls, and GAAP

  • Superior quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
