We have a client currently in need of a success-driven Full Charge Bookkeeper with NON PROFIT/GRANT ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE. This full-time employment opportunity is based in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Manage day to day aspects of bookkeeping and accounting including but not limited to payroll, A/P, A/R, journal entries, bank deposits and reconciliations.

Prepare monthly financial statements including Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities and Statement of Functional Expenses in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, government accounting standards, and other federal/grant regulations ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.

Maintain organizational cost allocation plan and ensure all expenditures are allocated accordingly and in compliance with U.S. Government Administrative and Cost Principles

Knowledge of 990 Tax Returns in order to prepare supporting analysis and documentation for returns prepared by third-party Tax Accountants

Review financial statements in comparison to year-to-date budgets. Explain variances and offer recommendations to correct deviations.

Execute payroll activities using a third-party payroll service provider reconciling all reports to general ledger and quarterly/annual tax reports.

Record charitable cash and in-kind donations ensuring restricted gifts are properly recorded and expended in accordance with donor instructions.

In accordance with management’s operational plan, develop and maintain budget and program/grant ISB’s as needed.

Maintain subsidiary ledgers including notes payable, fixed assets, payroll/fringe benefit and insurance allocations. Prepare monthly expense allocations and reconcile to general ledger balances and/or third-party statements regularly

Coordinate and provide all supporting financial statements, reconciliations and confirmations to assist with annual financial audit, grant monitoring, tax return preparations and other reviews as required

Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including budget vs. actual and program/grant-specific financial reports. Provide brief presentation of statements at board meetings as requested.

Work environment can include a standard office environment (office/cubicles) and/or working from home virtually

Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum education and/or experience:

Associate degree or equivalent with 3-5 years related experience or combination of education and experience.

Must have at least 2 years’ experience in bookkeeping and at least 2 years’ experience in non-profit, government grant reporting.

Specialized training, certifications, and/or other special requirements:

Knowledge of reporting and tax regulations for 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations and Government Grant Administration and Cost Principles.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Strong budgeting abilities with nonprofit organizations. Attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity and understanding of auditing. Organizational skills. Technology skills with the MS Word, Excel, TEAMS, Outlook. Knowledge of Adobe PDF software. Ability to deal effectively with diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.

Preferred education and/or experience:

Proficient with a wide variety of computer programs, preferably: MS Word, Excel, Power Point,

Preferred training, certifications and/or other special requirements:

Preference will be given to applicants with any of the following:

· Certified Public Bookkeeper License (CBP)

· American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers License/Certifications

· Institute of Certified Bookkeepers Certification

· National Bookkeepers Association Certification

· Bachelor’s Degree, Accounting Major
